Ry Girl made cookies with me this weekend. She caught on right away.
And, TADA!!! The couch… the Old Texas, stamped leather, are you kidding me couch and chair. Don’t you think it looks like a saddle? Who in a million years would have bough this couch except for me? It’s so awesome. Actually, The Boy picked it out, if you can believe it. I couldn’t believe it myself. I kept saying, “Are you serious? You LIKE it? Like, forever like it?” And he kept saying YES, so I said, “Load ‘er up.” There are no back cushions… just 3 sitting cushions. It’s clean and simple and so absolutely unique. happyhappyhappy dance
Our green toile couch with the 5 gazillion cushions will go to live with our favorite nurse, Renae. This summer we plan to finish off half of the basement and move the tv down there. Think fun carpet, comfy pillows, and Band of Brothers marathons. Upstairs will be for chicken and longhorn gazing, knitting, hot chocolate, and idle chatter. I think the leather saddle Old Texas Alamo couch and chair are perfect for that. We also got a rug to go under the couch and chair [read: the tax return cometh], but Abe puked on it last night so I can’t show you that right now. Nothing says “we got a new rug” like dog puke.
And now, to clean. And play with the chickens. And Franklin the Barn Cat… the newest addition to TexasNorth. He was a very friendly lost kitty in Stace’s neighborhood Friday. He was so nice that we just threw him in the back of the car and took him home. Why not, I say. Why. Not.

LOVE the stamped leather, darlin’. LOVE it! If we had a basement, that would be our TV palace too–I like the coziness of a family room removed from the rest of the house. Plus, you don’t feel so pressured to keep it spotless–let’s face it, that’s where all the living and snacking and crumbs and rumpled pillows take place, why disturb that for company 😉 (as I am about to do today for guests this evening)?
Franklin is a cutie pie, too (maybe so cute he should be THE farm cat, of Old McDonald Embroidery fame, hmmm?). I heart your farm, babe, and your adventuresome spirit. Rylie is a lucky girl to get to grow up this way!

so i have a question…….
if you are going to play for Texas do you really have to have a fiddle in the band?
just wondering
