In the midst of the hurricanes this weekend, I was able to check a few things off my I Promise List. Love that.
First: Way back when, I asked all of you to start taking a look at etsy and other home-grown crafters. I promised you a little somethin’-somethin’ if you signed up… and then I ran and hid for 6 months. Alas, I have not forgotten you! I’m making you veggie bags, and here is the mock-up. A cotton, knit bag that stretches like crazy and is perfect for throwing in 2 green peppers, 1 cucumber, a head of lettuce, and 4 sand toys. I need to add on the handles, obviously, but I’m pretty happy with this very rough version. It’s my first “very own” pattern. I plan to make three of these and have a random drawing for them. The rest of you lovely people who signed up will receive a beaded flower that is my go-to “I love you gift.” And you can give it away. It won’t hurt my feelings. Much.
Second: Meet Cortney and Chelsey. Cort’s drawin’ me some animals and Chels sent me GOBS of fabric and both are just as lovely as could be. For their services, I promised to make them aprons. I used the pattern found here and left off the ties and darts… less 1950s and more art-class smock-ish. Why these took me so long to get these started I have no idea, but I love them. All told, it took about an hour of sewing for 2 aprons. Awesome. I’ll be randomly drawing for one of these babies, too, out of the Etsy list. It’s a great, simple little smock with a button and pockets. So lovely. Chels, I was feelin’ the whole English-rose-Austen thing for you. Cort, it was sass all the way.
And here’s a picture of my mousey face for Tracy.
Wow. Those aprons are very wrinkled.
Oh, hey- we have an evaluation scheduled for tomorrow at 9:30am with a physical therapist and an Early On rep. Think of us, if you remember. We’ve already improved our walking in the last week, and I expect it to go well. I do need to clean. Those packing peanuts are everywhere.
Now on to more Promise List… after I read your Name Stories again from last Monday. Man, do I love me some family history! I’m still laughing at Bec’s, “No- I couldn’t stand that woman.” Classic.
And PS: If you’d like to be in on the drawings (which will happen the first week in July), just leave me a note below! You can play… you just have to say hello! We’ll call it the TexasNorth Reader Appreciation Raffle. I already have you down if you commented way back when. Up for grabs: 3 cotton veggie bags, 1 smock, and happy little flowers for giving or for keeping.
