About

TexasNorth is a little farm in Western Michigan. It’s home to 25 chickens, 20 longhorn cattle, a chocolate lab (Abe), 3 barn cats, a fabulous office-man-by-day-farmer-by-night husband, and 3 ridiculously cute children.  The mom of this zoo (and author of the journal) has been known to mow the lawn in a skirt and roast marshmallows after dark.  She believes in Sunday school and being barefoot as often as possible.

Curt and I married in 2002.  After 2 years of city-life, I dragged him to the country 30 miles outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  We moved into The Shoebox one month before Rylie was born and haven’t looked back.  In 2008, we registered as Texas Longhorn breeders and bought 3 mammas cows (and two of their babies).  Now, we’re up to 20.  It’s a hobby and an investment and a tip-of-the-hat to the Old West history we love so much.   We try to keep things simple.  We try to learn new things.  We try to be good neighbors and great friends.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you like what you see.  If you’re ever in the neighborhood, chances are good there’s an apple pie in the oven.  Come on over.
