the year of ‘hello I already love you’

This past year has been amazing.  After 8 years here in Michigan, I am finally starting to carve out my own little place.  As TexasNorth literally grows and settles in, folks from Blog Land are starting to stop by and say, “Hello” in person.  Every time, I feel like we’ve known each other for, oh, forever.  Hello!  You’re super fun!

Amy and Carin (Chicago and Canada), who went to church and school with my husband and his older sister though none of us realized that until we were chatting it up on the farm.  SMALL WORLD, people.  Small world. (some awesome photos of their visit: click here)

Shanna, who recently moved to Austin and brought her kiddos down to play with me and Ry while we were in Tejas visiting my family an hour away.  Perfection.  Shanna and I met through the North Carolina crew and have been friends for forever on the blog.

Abbie and family, (New Mexico but went to school with Curt) who was in Michigan visiting family and made a special trip south this summer to play on the farm for an evening.  Um, please move next door.

Jim and Denise (Ann Arbor), who found us from the barn photos and has since become a honest-to-goodness friend of the family.  We’ve run into each other camping, shared a cottage, gone to tractor shows, hunted ducks, and exchanged recipes.

Colene (right down the road), who ordered an apron from me and then came to the farm to pick it up… and then I stalked her until she agreed to meet us at the bakery for lunch and now we’re friends.  Bff.

Becky, Cortney, Sunday, Julie (North Carolina, ‘cept for Cort who drove all the way from Tennessee!), who I got to hang out with this past weekend in Asheville.  Sunday (and Jess and Annie we missed you!) and I go way back to college when we worked at Camp Merri-Mac together.  The other girls and I have been friends for years on the blog. I’ve decided that Julie, Becky, and I are going to hit the road with 2 guitars and a tambourine.  Sunday will feed us meatloaf and Cortney will feed us cake. CAKE!  Get packin’, Ladies.

So many fabulous people!  And you’re completely normal, quirky, hilarious, my kind of people.  No restraining orders in the entire bunch.  I hope the feeling is mutual.  I have so very much enjoyed getting to know your families and reading your stories and sharing your lives.  Meeting in person is simply the icing on the cake.

You make my life amazing!

Until next time…

The three of us really did make a sweet sound together. Oh my, I’ll bet you could be a good song writer!!! We would have tons of original material to go with as well.

Yes, we will plan on coming to the barn raising and making some music there!

And Good Morning to you Kate!

Still trying to figure out the next time a trip to Michigan which will last more than 2 days so we can hang out again!

O.M.G – I cannot believe I made it to The Blog. I have goosebumps! Oh and BTW – you didn’t stalk me, I stalked you first! 🙂

I’ll make the bread and Denise the Tarts. Tell Curt I had an Eagle try to take a Decoy Wednesday, would have loved Sunday to have taken a picure. I laughed for an hour.

  • Cortney

Aww, yay! What’s a four-hour round trip from TN when the opportunity to hang out with these awesome ladies is involved? Not a problem, that’s what 😉

Becky of *course* I’m reading, I’m so happy to have finally met you in person too, and glad to have driven you ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE STREET! You can have a ride anytime!

It was really great to see Sunday again (for more than a few minutes), meet Julie and hear you girls sing, and finally meet all the kiddos. You can send Gus to come giggle and smile at me as soon as is convenient.

I wonder if I could convince my husband that our next family vacation needs to be to Michigan…? 😉

You can’t possibly be an introvert with all that visiting going on. But amazing stories about where and whom you met.

Amy B. came and stayed with us for 4 days! My first visitor in years. It enriched the small house, even though we had to take turns in the bathroom.
